In reading some of the writeups about the bike, I came across:

"The aforementioned pieces are being held by a first generation N.O.S. Campagnolo 1046/a Nouvo Record bottom bracket assembly, a set I was lucky t o find because it had the wider 4mm lock ring that was correct for the narrower Masi shell"

I'm not familiar with why one needs to run a 4mm lockring? Is the BB shell not centered on the frame? What is the width of such a BB shell? Is there some unusual chainline issue?
