While in another part of the state today I spotted an old looking fork bend
in a rack in front of a small bike shop in Holly Michigan. I got my buddy
to do a turn of questionable legality and went flying into their parking
lot. There in a rack among a bunch of frankly junky bikes was an old
Rochet...the model seemed to be a Superia Special and it seemed to be from
the '50s. I went inside to ask about it and the owner was not there (only
some kids) and no one even knew how much was being asked for this old timer.
It had some nice Maes (SP?) bars on it and nice looking tubular wheels with
high flange hubs that I could not readily identify...the running gear was
mostly gone except for a cottered Stronglight crank set. It has been
converted into a fixed gear.
If anyone wants to contact the bike shop, I do have phone number and I will
supply it to anyone who might like to call and make enquiry...It was a bit
rough around the edges, but seemed a very nice old bike if there are any
Rochet fans out there...no idea of the price, however.
