The Womans Road Record association was formed in 1934. at their first inaugural dinner in 1935 G.H.Stancer in his speech praised Kate Green who beat 300 miles unpaced on two separate occasions in 24's in 1908! There were a lot of wonderful British woman road record breakers Pearl Pratt VCAC, Lillian Dredge later Claud Butler Professional and of course Marguerite. If you compare her times to Jack Rossiter's London to York and 12 hour there ain't that much difference and she had far worse weather on her attempt. You just can't compare Beryl and Miss Wilson the only records they shared were the 25,50,10,12 and 24. Beryly just didn't do place to place. Finally someone inferred that not many know Marguerite Wilson on this side of the pond well I can't really answer this one without using very bad language, all I can say is that is if you are of a certain age and a REAL CYCLIST you must have been bleeding blind if you missed those Hercules adverts as a kid and if you are a Johnny come lately or a collector or pseudo cycling historian you are having a laugh if you don't know of her. I don't beleive it as Victor Meldrew another old grumpy would say!
