I have an 85 Cinelli SC #85551 purchased from original owner in who bought it at the factory as a custom in 1985. No holes in the lugs, button with flying c near the seat binder bolt, newer style pantographed crown, braze-on front derailleur, one set of water bottle bosses. Internal route for rear brake cable, may be a custom option.
Original owner had it repainted by JB with vintage decals.
Sweet if newish KOF not-real Cinelli Cinelli, my one and only Super Record cycle at the end of the Super Record era.

Last month I bought Supercorsa number 83125 from the original owner, who purchased it new in 1984. I'm assuming that the first two digits are year of production.
83125 does have the three holes in the head/downtube lug. So, if my assumption about the first two digits being the production year is correct, and 83707 doesn't have them, and these bikes aren't anomolies, then the holes disappeared sometime in 1983. By the way, you are correct, the holes make me much faster, the ride more sublime, and serve notice that i am a shrewd investor (j/k).
83125 does not have the portacatena drop-out, so I suppose then that that was dropped between 82222 and 83125. The top-tube braze-ons have disc bases, and it has only one set of bottle bosses, so i guess we learn nothing from that.
I noticed looking at pix of more recent SC's that there is a little flying-C "button" above the seat binder bolt. When did that come in, and is mine missing them, or was it born that way?

The seller has it equipped with late 80's/early 90's parts, it has only one set of water bottle bosses, top tube cable guides have a sort of round disc shape where they attach to the top tube, and a 2-hole porta catena drop out so I have a hunch it's earlier than the components and possibly in CR timeframe. My Supercorsa that has a serial number of 83707 does not have the three holes in the head/down tube lug.
So I'm thinking his frame is more like 1982 after looking at details and serial numbers.
What's the date info on those holes, when did they disappear? Did Supercorsas ever end up with two sets of WB bosses? Any appreciable difference in ride or market value once those three little holes disappear? Or was it all down hill years before? ;-)
