Mysteriously (well, not really all that mysterious) 4 Campy bottom brackets landed here in my place; some will be fitted in yet to be finished restoration projects. They are all a bit different, and I'd like to know more about the period they're from, and primarily, to which crank arms they should be coupled. I'm aware of the '77/'78 (CSPC??) changes in front derailleur and associated changes in bottom bracket and crank arms, and I've tried to understand the charts in that scanned article (from Record News) about Campy bottom brackets. Not completely helpful I would say. So here's what I have, and please bear with me, I'll give a lot of details. 'A' is the measurement between bearing shoulders.
1. 68 SS 120, world logo, 112 mm length, A=54, fixed cup is flat, says: 'Campagnolo made in Italy' 2. 68 SS 120, world logo, 'brev inter', 112 mm length, A=49, fixed cup is flat, says: 'Brev. Inter. Campagnolo' 3. 68 SS 120, world logo, 'ev. inter', 111 mm length, A=50, fixed cup has recessed center part and rifling in opening 4. 68 SS, shield logo, 109 mm length, A=52, fixed cup has recessed center part and rifling in opening (cups are Italian, so this is probably a mismatch)
Although axles and cups were all found as 'sets', it's of course possible some mismatches have occurred (like the 68 - ITA cups mismatch). Any help would be very much appreciated, as I said, primarily to match the bb with the right cranks. If it's important to match post-77 front derailleur with post-'77 bb-crank combination, I'd like to hear about that too.
