this has been interesting to say the least, and nice to hear that some out there start from the stem then tuck 'n plug the way i was taught in the 60's. seems to annoy the current generation of bar wrappers that I hang with. I hate electric tape.

we also, in those days past, chucked the brake lever covers and wrapped them with tape instead (not a good solution for Tom's tape shortage). Does anyone recall this? quite comfortable after the double thick second wrapping and quite pleasing aesthetically if done right.

also, there is a product used extensively in the kayak biz for polypro boats to inhibit UV degradation called 303. I use it for most of the o-rings, gaskets and other things I use in my furniture and mechanisms and it keeps it from drying out, extending the life considerably. it will not degrade the material over time like armour-all, though the results look similar. I wonder if this is something to consider for brake hoods (initial application can make them a bit slidey)? I currently use it for my helmets as I know they are prone to UV degradatio n. -- gabriel l romeu seeing the forecast brighten up for saturday, looking forward to the CR ride here in chesterfield new jerzee, cross the pond from gibraulter. ± http://studiofurniture.com Ø http://journalphoto.org ±
