I experience Rhab let-down everytime I finish a bike, like untreated
depression. I replaced cigarets with bike racing, and bike racing with
collecting and restoring bikes (and of course riding.)
That aside, however, some of these bike have a history and we owe
something to that history. I tend to concentrate on the local and that
local history will totally disappear if not catalogued, chronicled,
preserved, restored, etc. The guys who raced these bikes are dying out
quickly and their stories are being lost and their bikes are being
thrown in the dumpsters. This more than 10 bike habit I find much more
rewarding and useful than cigarettes.
