The italian that sold me these (Don, the ungracious son-in-law of Sal the legend @ ABC Bikes in NYC) called them Padre's, as have I. Priest/Padre whatever - same thing I guess. His "spiel" was that the famous Colnago that was presented to the Pope in turn had the road drop bars taken off and these added so they stuck with that moniker. Sounds cool, but the truth to the story has about a 10% chance.
In any case .... as Mark pointed out to me, the good people at Nitto and Jitensha Studio are making a beauty which is modeled on the very similar bar type once offered by 3TTT ... easier for using with many (bmx/mtb) upright suitable levers too. A sweeter, shorter alternative to the Dove and Moustache bar styles ... less is more.
