I bought a Campagnolo pedal rebuild kit on eBay and handed my old Record pedals and the kit to a LBS to rebuild. He just contacted me telling me that he could not install the inboard seal on the pedal. He mentioned that the inboard seal had to be way chilled, the pedal body heated, then the seal pressed in. He could not install the seal, as he did not have a torch and dry ice. He's now asking me to buy two more rebuild kits so he can try to replace the seal with a torch and freezing the seals, sacrificing one kit if it doesn't go right.
I'm rather at a loss. Does anyone have prior experience rebuilding old Campy pedals, and just what do I need to do to salvage my pedals? From what I heard from the mechanic a few minutes ago, the pedals don't have their inboard grease seals, which renders them useless
