That frameset was certainly made by Brunello's father, who passed away a couple of years ago, by the way. The FANINI factory was very active through a good span of years till, I guess, the mid eighties. They furnished bikes to very many local teams, as well as to their own, of course. The name of their teams have changed through the years, but, never mid the name, the Fanini family team is the oldest still active, on the road. They have nurished, and upbred in fact, a lot of top cyclists, minly Italian, but not only. At present they manage three professional teams.
That Baroque Drillium Frameset is just one on the many that the late Mr.Fanini made, all with some peculiar detail that probably, at that time, guaranteed success. I have myself a few, perfectly restored and running strong. A lot more of them are just hanging up against the ceiling in the other shop that my friend Michele, one of Brunello's brothers, runs.
I appear the only person who passes by and falls in love with one of them, from time to time.
