Subject: [CR]More on the Unicanitor

I just read Chuck Schmidt's response to the plastic saddle thread in which he states that the original Unica-Nitor "Offered plain or perforated in Black, Brown, Orange or Green." In the small amount of time I have spent with vintage bicycle parts on my radar, 99% of the plastic unicanitors I have seen have been black. I saw a couple of early 60's Frejus bikes with brown ones, the only two I've ever seen, and the only orange/salmon/rust one I have seen was offered for sale by Cyclart on ebay. I am curious as to why orange and green appear so rarely today? Is it possible that since saddles had been leather (and likely either brown or black) for a hundred years before the plastic saddle arrived, it was firmly planted in the minds of riders that a bicycle saddle ought to be one of the two? Were orange and green simply less popular? Available for a shorter time period? Or is there another reason why few of them survived? Any proud owners of a green Unica-Nitor lurking around out there?

how rare the orange and green are today as compared to when
