I have a pre-war Gloria that I'm going to restore at some point, and I'm curious about just how these frames were finished off. That is, I know how they were finished, but the process sequence is something of a mystery.
The main tubes were finished in a brushed-nickle plating, and all the lugs and ends were chrome-plated. The border between the nickle and the chrome was hidden under blue darts, as can be seen on the Gloria on the CR site.
The question I had was this: was was the order of plating? Was the nickle done first, then the frame lugs were dipped separately to chrome them? If so, I assume that was pretty labor-intensive, between the polishing, and the dipping..
Any insights would be appreciated. Also, any recommendations for a restorer who would be interested in this project. I know the cost will be high.
Thanks.
