Thanks to Ken D., Lou D., Steven W., and Nick Z. I took the '78 Raleigh Comp GS to the LBS and had them pull the old nuovo gran sport crank set for 5 bux so I could then install a nuovo record set. I also lowered the handlebar stem about an inch or so and lo and behold cycling is fun again! This bike is a sweet and smooth long roller now - the NR crankset seems SO much more rugged and didn't seem any heavier than the spindly gran sport set, doesn't feel like the chainrings are distorting anymore when I really push it up the hills. I've learned alot from you guys and would like to thank you all very much for an incredibly active and informative list - probably the best one I've ever had the privilege to be a part of.
