All the SLJ derailleurs I have used simply screwed into a Campy
dropout. You don't use the threads, but treat it as an unthreaded
Simplex dropout with a simple hole. Maybe I am missing something, but
it does not appear that my Simplex derailleurs were any special model.
>Also, is there a timeline on the web of the various LJ models?

The latest Vintage Bicycle Quarterly has "Part 2" of the article "Riding with Classic Derailleurs." For each derailleur discussed, there is a timeline. The one for the Simplex SLJ includes all the info I could find.
That said, I didn't dwell on the various models of the plastic derailleurs.
The magazine is in the mail. Expect it within the next 1-3 weeks.
