I've sometimes dreamt of adding cantilevers to a nice (is a pre-canti Trek 720 too nice?) vintage sport/touring frameset. But I wonder if this conversion is cost-effective and how much paint will be damaged? Any validity to doing this or is it hare-brained? As a side benefit, conv from 27" to 700C can also be made.
