Hi Marty, According to my 1974 catalog, 4 Peugeot models came with stainless steel fenders and rear racks. All had the same "Peugeot lightweight tubing" and they all came with an alloy frame pump, 27 x 1-1/4" tires [US market], Mafac brakes, Simplex derailleurs. These are the significant differences between them:
UP-41 5-spd with a single shift lever mounted on top tube, frame-mounted chainguard, Q/R axles, upright bars, sprung vinyl top saddle. ~ 31 lbs.
UE-8 10-spd with chainguard outer ring, generator lights (headlight on fender), Q/R axles, drop bars, chrome fork ends, leather un-sprung racing saddle. ~ 31 lbs
UE-18 Mixte version of the above (UE-8), but with upright bars & sprung vinyl saddle ~ 32 lbs.
AE-8 10-spd, no chainguard, wingnuts, un-sprung leather racing saddle, drop bars ~ 29 lbs
I'm sure these models changed specific details slightly from year to year, but all are great looking and sensible bikes, far better than anything made by Schwinn at that time and in the same price range (IMO). I'd be happy to walk into a bike shop and find any one of them for sale, new... TODAY!

I have not seen many of these early 1970's bicycles with fenders back in the early 1970's or now. Does any one know the model NAME OR NUMBER OF the low end Peugot that I have from the early 1970's.
