I would have thought the example pictures shown would have been out of the listing time line ! Maybe I'm wrong !

However the rights or wrongs brings me to reflect on the frameset I have hanging up in my workshop circa 1980. Its an all steel fully lugged frame with usual period braze ons and campag dropouts . Not unusual one would say , but many of these frames of all sizes were been imported to order by the UK by cycle traders at this time. They were purchased unpainted so when the frame was sold , the customer had a personel choice in the finished paintwork etc.The completed frame had the cycle dealers own name or logo in the usual places with a small Simoncini sticker on the seat tube. Many also added their own personel frame numbering on the underside of the bottom bracket for their own records.

I know of three cycle builders who did this type of dealing , its advantage being it gave a buyer the chance to purchase a correct sized well built budget frame as opposed to having one built to order.

All in a day's work I suppose!
