Jan Heine: It is something I always am concerned about when I test bikes. If a bike works for me, the whimpy guy who likes flexible frames, it may not be appropriate for others with different power outputs or different pedaling styles...In the end, I tell readers that they should talk to their builder and see what they say... and if they don't like what they hear, find a different builder. But I would trust the builder's judgment more than the riders, unless the rider has ridden many different bikes. In my case, I told the builder "Make me one like that one" and I hope it'll ride as well as "that one."
Well there are two of us wimps in the world Jan. I took my Morris to Dave Bohm and said "Build me one like this." We took all the measurements and Dave at first was going to use OS tubing. I told him no. Having ridden OS 753 on my Rivenell AR for the past 8 years , I learned to prefer the spring-like action (with no discernable BB flex) of the 531 Morris. I'm 200+ and this bike will carry a load, but I do not pound the pedals. Dave went into his storage shed and found a complete set of heavier guage Colombus tubes that just might fit the bill. He didn't know what he was going to do with them. Now he does.
