Regarding Benotto plastic tape.
When I could no longer afford to work for a bike shop in June of 1979, Benotto tape was available but not stocked in too many colors, only suggested for those who had perspiration that degraded cloth tape too fast.
In 1985, when I worked part time for a bike shop again while in school, it was already all the rage and available in many more colors, but looked like it was going to be supplanted soon by that "foamed" padded stuff. Some guys were playing around with weaving two colors of Benotto together as well.
Back in 1975, it was Fresh White Cloth tape for race day, Eddy always seemed to have Fresh White Tape...
