What is the best way to remove cable housing caps that have rusted/fused/seized in the cable stops?
This is a possibly on-topic early fillet-brazed mountainbike, with steel cable stops (of course). It has been neglected and left outside. I can't tell whether the housing caps are steel or aluminum or what.
I have tried WD-40, ammonia, prying it out with pliers/awl, trying to push/nail it out from the other side, but to no avail. I am thinking that I will try to drill out the housing caps without destroying the cable stop.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Greg
