Bob and all,
Regarding toe straps on Carlsbad Masis; they were twisted and riveted,
just for the record. I assembled a few hundred myself.
Toe straps work fine either way; but I personally prefer the twisted
method.

I agree that is isn't necessary. I've often had to rely on a pair of
needle-nose pliers to pull straps through the cage slots. With or
without a twist,
I haven't met a traditional leather strap that'll budge, at least on
Campy
Record pedals. And from an aesthetic point of view, I like the non- twisted
look better.
Anyway, how did they do it at Carlsbad? Straight or twisted? (BTW,
I'm
still referring to toestraps.)

Carlsbad did it without a twist... because first thing Faliero would
have
done was show them how he had been doing it in Italy, as you see can
here (on
a new '72 Italian Masi being unwrapped for the first time). If you
look hard
you can also see what Chuck was talking about, how they looped and
riveted
the end.

Ooops, better go back and un-twist 'em.
