I just got a book that has some dates of introductions for on-topic Shimano componentry. Here are some of the highlights:
1973: First generation Dura-Ace, with Crane Derailleur. 1976: Dura-Ace 10 components, featuring a new 10mm chain pitch standard, introduced for track. 1978: Dura-Ace EX group is introduced. Interesting features include an 11 tooth cog and a freehub that takes cassette cogs. 1980: Dura-Ace AX introduced. Aerodynamic features, including the delta brakeset.
Interesting to me is that Shimano used the dash between Dura and Ace, like this: Dura-ace. This makes it interesting when entering a search in the archives or ebay as often it is spelled without the dash as two words or even as one word, DuraAce. I also thought the delta brakeset came with the first generation Dura-Ace in 1973, although there is no mention of that innovation until the 1980 Dura-Ace AX introduction.
