Cyclocross 1950

Jean Robic on his way to winning the first official World Cyclocross Championship, held in 1950 at Bois de Vincennes park, east of Paris, France. Not all details are clear in this image, but note the Simplex rear derailleur, fairly smooth tires, cantilever brakes, and bar brake levers (no gum covers). Note what appears to be double rear brake cable housings coming around the seatpost. From "Miroir Sprint" No.195, 6 March 1950.
