Here's some pics of that funky chrome bike I picked up last week with some of its dignity restored, built up as a knock around "townie" bike with some style. It actually rides really well. I'm not sure if was originally built as a 26" wheel roadster but it feels right at home with the 27" ers on it? The geometry is not bad at all. The Paramount stem (even with the "dick droop") is still really cool.

I'm still interested in knowing what the frame might be and the approximate age. Maybe somebody recognizes those head lugs. On that note are those lugs? Or is this a bi-lam construction? Whatever it is the chrome is sure tough. This bike was found in a blackberry patch and completely grown over. The lady told the guy doing the clearing, "that there was a bike in there and he could have it if he found it". The rims were rusted completely but the frame is in really great shape.

I think the frame is either French or English. I assumed the BB was French as it was not reverse thread and it was too small to be Italian. But I reassembled it without measuring it. I assumed the steerer was French because it measured out to just about 25mm and matched 1.00 on a thread file. But using a French headset turned out to be a bit of a job. It was really close but just not right. Using the steel headset like a tap with lots of oil I was able to work the threads enough to accept it. Perhaps both were whitworth? Also the Paramount stem fits and has not been sanded down, so would that rule out French? Any thoughts?
