I just measured the BB of my '68ish Cinelli, and got 69mm, right between the standard widths of 68 and 70. There is a Japanese BB in there now. I am thinking about replacing it. Should I use a spindle for a 68mm BB or a 70mm BB? I care about Q factor, but I think that if I use a 68, I run the risk that the adjustable cup will go too far into the BB shell, and there will be nothing for the lockring to grab onto. Italian standard appears to be 70mm too.
Have I missed anything?
Is there any difference between pre-CPSC Campagnolo and post-CPSC Campagnolo? If so, are the parts marked differently? I have looked at some catalogs online, and I don't see any difference.
