Eighty-One Years Ago - Prix Cycliste Wolber

Soissons, France. Leading the break-away, Bartolomeo Aimo (sometimes written "Aymo") (left) and Robert Jacquinot (right) gesture meaningfully to each other. Italian Aimo (Aiglon-Dunlop) understands very little French, so Frenchman Jacquinot (Dilecta-Wolber) resorts to pointing. Seems likely that Jacquinot is telling Aimo "Don't accelerate so much at the front... you're opening a gap." In the background, the ruins of the 12th-century abbey of Saint Jean des Vignes. From "Le Miroir des Sport" No.281/617, 30 September 1925.
