Charles,

The Tufo Elite Road is a nice tire at 23 mm and lasts forever. I put thousands of miles on a pair until one punctured on poor roads during a 200 K ride this summer. The tape stayed on the rim, I slapped on my spare and was back on the road in minutes. Veloflex Criteriums ride wonderfully but are much more fragile. The Servizio Corses are even more so. I only use both for short rides on smooth roads. However, I use the Tufo tape almost exclusively now, on all my tubulars. I've never had the problem of the backing tape pulling off the tire during removal. Plus, I've never rolled a tire, even on steep, twisting river valley descents at 40 MPH+. Unfortunately, I have too many wheel-sets to afford vintage silk Clements, Also, I don't have the time for all that gluing. The Tufo tape is quicker, easier, just as secure and makes centering the tire idiot-proof. Also, once the tire is mounted, you can hop on your bike and ride. One last thing, they're made by Czechs (of which I am one) and if they can make beer like Pilsner Urquell the tires can't be that bad.
