Wonderful European magazines from the 70s, with lots of photos, can be found in Miroir du Cyclsime (France) and Bicisport (Italy). Miroir started in the early 1960s, my recollection is Bicisport started in the mid 1970s. Miroir also had nice full color fold-out posters that started in the 1970s. Both magazines featured both road and track, with a definite road slant.
Although not cheap, you can dredge up a full set of Miroir with posters if you spend a little time digging in Paris. Be aware prices are climbing on this and many other complete runs. Single issues, sans poster, can be had on eBay for a few euro each. However, you will likely spend the rest of your life trying to build a full run that way. And you will get whacked on postage.
I found Bicisport to be tougher to find as a complete collection, although cheaper than Miroir on a price per issue basis.
There are also decent Dutch, Swiss, and German magazines from that time period although the photos tend to be fewer in number. International Cycle Sport is about the only English language periodical with much of any European race coverage, although the reporting is often stilted and hackish, seemingly written by journalists with minimal if any personal contacts with the riders. It is however, a good source if you are keen to gather endless results of British time trials.
