Ted, Thanks for write-up. Some questions: You use the same glue as you use gluing tire to rim, correct? My LBS has Continental and Tubasti(I think). He seems to think they're interchangeable. Are they? I don't actually mix them, but if I remove and replace tire memory fails as to what's on rim from last gluing.
I've always coated both tire and rim. But still I've had a couple tires start peeling the base tape away from tire. Though maybe solvents used to clean rims was culprit. I've also had a tire come loose from base tape and rotate on rim under braking. Tape was glued to rim but tire slid on tape. Pointers appreciated. Thanks.
