Subject: [CR]Reg Harris and race fixing,

Brian says "I am sure that Reg would never throw a race. We forget that match sprinting was the pinnacle of the sport in the 50s" Just like Six Day racing is the pinnacle of track sport now but surely nobody believes that isn't fixed? Surely the more exclusive the club of riders the more certain it is that the result will be fixed. If three riders in a break in the Tour de France can fix the result on live television like they did this year I'm sure that three riders could fix it on a track in the fifties, particularly when they were racing, travelling and rooming together for years.
>From their point of view there was no point in racing when you could have an easy life and make it look more exciting for the crowd. None of the above contradicts the fact that Reg was an all time great. Ray Green, Brighton, England.
