The carpet tape cement has also been mentioned on Bike Forums, Parabond M4263 universal carpet seam sealer. I did find it on the web, but it was no longer a current product of the company. I asked at a couple of carpet places in town and nobody had heard of anything like that. Seems they don't do it that way anymore; the backing strip is coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive. Tire Life is also a white latex solution and dries clear. Liquid latex is also used for other purposes apparently. Just google it and you'll find some pretty kinky stuff. I just wouldn't want to be seen receiving a package from some of those places.
