Subject: [CR]FS: Witcomb USA Touring Bike 57cm
Regretfully I am going to liquidate some bikes to fund some projects.
First up is this one. Sorry to make my first uses of Wool Jersey some
sales but I'll get the rest of the bikes up soon.
This frame was fully restored by Peter Weigle in an original maroon color.
It has been ridden very little since restored and is in outstanding
condition except the cranks and hub barrels which have a bit of
corrosion typical of their age.
For background see:
http://www.classicrendezvous.com/USA/Witcomb_USA.htm
Frame:
57 X 56 cm c-c with a 105 cm wheelbase and a 26 cm BB height.
Reynolds 531 DB tubing with Haden Concorde long point lugs and Campagnolo
ends. 126mm rear spacing.
Peter added split brake cable stops and a pump peg.
There are dual WB braze ons and a mysterious fitting on the
back of the seat tube.
Components:
Features the rare TA Ref. 1500 Criterium crankset made briefly in the early
1960s with a custom Phil Wood BB.
Phil Wood pedals.
Phil 3-piece hubs (usual barrel corrosion marks) with modern Ambrosio
clinchers rims, Stella DB spokes, Passela 700X32 tires and Suntour
freewheel.
Campagnolo bar-cons, Rally rear and 980 front derailleurs, Record seatpost
headset. Gran Sport skewars.
Nitto stem and fancy engraved bars.
Unicanitor #3 saddle.
Diacompe Royal brakes with Wienmann levers
Bluemel fenders and TA cages
$1250 plus shipping. The cranks and pedals are rather expensive so I may
consider offers without them.
I will also be offering a Granby for $900 (see CR website for pics of
this bike), a Drysdale Track for $1100 in the coming weeks. They are
both 56 cm. Also a very large Jim Redcay touring frame at $300,
something like 64cm. I am pretty short on time at the moment so if I
get inquiries on these you will probably just get a lot of pictures. All
the bikes will go to Ebay if I don't get interest on the list.
