Newbie Introduction: My name is Gary Watts, age 47 in Vancouver Washington. I spent the previous 45 years in Oregon. Raced from 1975-1981 for the Beaverton Bicycle Club. I rode a 1975 Crescent (531 frame with ultimately Campy NR on it). Stopped riding until 3 years ago. I worked in 3 different shops and built frames for a short period. I have 2 modern Campy bikes, am interested in a nice SR bike from the my era of riding.
The information I'm after is probably a large yawn to the group. However, I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I did review the archives and found some answers.
I purchased (in transit currently) a late 70's, early 80's Colnago (my guess on the years). I'm intending on doing a restoration, not a show bike though. For my own amusement.

1) I'd like to nail down the date of the frame. The classic rendezvous website says that a serial number lookup project has been abandoned. The braze on's suggest early 80's including the cable guides on the underside of the BB. The logo's don't match any of the catalogs's I've looked at online. What year did the logo on the top of the seat stays get added?
2) I need decals and I'm not seeing similar versions on ebay etc. Most early 80's don't have the club inside the C.
3) Quick guesses say this is a Super but I've never seen a Super with chrome exposed on the head tube lugs.
4) Is there a source for proper paint colors for the (unknown) era? I've seen black, silver, pearl white, metallic blue, metallic red and the gold plating. I raced with a guy that had an orange Colnago Super that was a 1977. Funny though, I've never seen pictures of one.
