Subject: [CR]For Sale Ron Boi Frameset 58cm

Ron Boi race frame #183 from the early 80's (on topic pre '83). Very nice US built bike with twin-plate fork. I'm not an expert lugologist and brazeophile, but to my eyes the work on this bike looks very tidy and well done. All the joints look nice and crisp, and the dropouts have nice "bird mouth" transitions into the stays. Pretty seat cluster with widows peak. My only complaint is the paint, which was put on very thin and has numerous small chips and is a little dull on the top tube from lack of clear. It really deserves a sexier paint job.

Unknown tubing but you can read "Super Vitus" on the fork leg (thin paint!). I wrote to Ron awhile back for more info but he never responded. On initial contact he did confirm this was the only frame he ever built with the twin-plate fork. And said it was originally built for a doctor in Chicago. It was a money's no object build at the time. The bike was outfitted with full Super Record with the Ti BB and peds, Arraya titanium rims, and Maillard alloy freewheel. It was true 19lb bike built up. The frame and fork with headset weigh 6lbs.

Size: seat tube 58cm c-c, top tube 56cm c-c, chainstay 42cm +/-, wheelbase 100cm +/-, 27.2 seatpost, Italian BB, 126mm rear spacing, takes nutted short reach brake calipers.

Gipiemme dropouts, Cinelli bottom bracket shell, single H2O boss, top tube cable guides, rear derailleur cable guides. NO shifter bosses.

Condition is excellent. The bike was almost never ridden. But like I mentioned before there are a lot of little paint flaws. Built up it's very presentable, but would sure look better in fresh pearl white or metallic blue.

Price with excellent Campagnolo Super record headset $450 plus actual shipping. I will adjust if you do not want the headset.

Sorry the pictures are not better. The weather prevents outdoor shots right now and I do not have the right lighting to photograph a black frame. I will try to get some better ones if it stops raining for awhile.

Thanks, Jon Williams Grants Pass OR USA
