Reading this thread about cycle computers and if they fit into the CR List timeline, I must wonder just why 1983 is the cut-off date.

A quick look at my copy of The Official Tour de France history and the 1984 TdF shows quite clearly riders astride steel frame racing bikes with non Aero brakes, toe-clips, traditional tubular rims, Cinelli bars and stems, Campagnolo SR or Mavic, wearing cotton cycle caps, black cycling shoes. Sure looks "on topic" to me and it's primo pro cycling. Raleigh, Peugeot, Gitane, Bianchi and other makers were churning out CR List stuff up through 1986. My 1986 Peugeot PX is 100 per cent spec and 100 per cent "on topic".

This means if the 1984 Renault Team timetrial guys show up for the next Cirque, they don't get in?
