I wouldn't dispute the authenticity of the bike, but judging from what I can see of the frameset, there is little which appeals to me. I'm sure it is a very well built frame, but lacking all the custom goodies which make a Singer so desirable, it simply looks like a great many other French road bikes of the 70s.

There does appear to be a rear rack mount brazed onto the left seat stay, and an interesting rear brake cable hanger perhaps, but little else. If it in fact was once a nicely equipped, modern era, randonneur, who has a couple thousand dollars worth of individually sought and gathered Singer components in precisely the correct sizes just sitting around to correctly re-build the bike bike into it's most appealing (original) form - which in this case I do suspect was nothing dazzling, anyway.

Even if this model had been a fairly stripped down sport-touring sort of bike originally, the owner really should have simply kept it all intact for best resale value. I may be completely wrong. It may still sell for far too much merely because of the nice condition of the decals and enamel... but not to me.

Seems a disappointing auction, unless you simply must have a that famous name to fill out your collection. But, what do I know ~ Best of Luck to any bidding List members; you may snap up a bargain here.
