While that is a bit overharsh, I would implore folks not to use a hammer to install headset cups. You don't need "the proper tools", just go down to the local hardware store and get a length of 1" all-thread, two 1" nuts to match, and a couple washers. Cheaper than a hammer, way cheaper than a paint job.
