Bruce, et al,
I do remember that this thread started with a comment thatthe frame had no insignias for tubing or model type. And of course I recognize that the tubing decals frequently wear away, although often there are some vestigial remains still on the frame.
But to repeat my comments about the model type insignias: On the Grand Jubile bikes I've actually handled, the model designation was _painted_ on the top tube and very robust. I make no claims that this was true for every Grand JubilĂ© ever sold.
Frankly, I have a similar situation with my old Atala. Once the insignias were removed (which I personally performed, ages ago, in order to make the bike less alluring to thieves) you really can't tell whether the frame is a Grand Prix, or Competizione or even a Record.
That's what makes working on certain older bikes both frustrating and fun.
