Well, this definitely ISN'T a Laser, but I think it has a lot of that essence, given the junctions and MAX tubing used. I cleared it with Dale quite some time ago to release these pics to the CR list, but I never did do it officially, that I recall. Given the current thread, and Rays request for pics of variations, I thought it was time.
This is a fillet brazed Cinelli, that was thought to be from 1985 because of the dates on the Campy off-topic Record gruppo, but it turns out that Columbus MAX tubing didn't come out till perhaps late 1988, or commonly in 1989. However, given the close relationship the Cinelli company had with the Columbus company at that time ... i.e., being one and the same :) ... I suppose it's possible that this was some early use of the tubes. Somehow working through a LBS, the original owner arranged to be measured by Cinelli (in Italy), and the bike was ordered, to be delivered to the United States. While at the shop, the buyer selected the vibrant color you see, which was not a color Cinelli had ever used for a bike. They had only used it as a highlight paint, I think on some steel MTBs they were making at the time.
The ordering owner received the bike, obviously kept the finish, and had his Campy gruppo completely black anodized for the bike. He then kept the bike squirreled away, using it sparingly (perhaps parading is a more accurate term), and then sold it to my friend Dennis last year. Dennis will not part with it. The result of the pink frame paint and black parts and is very difficult to photograph, especially given my meager equipment and skills, and the finicky Michigan outdoor lighting. I've done my best, and as usual probably over did it with views. But I think this bike will never see the light of day again for years to come, so I figured it best to photo-document as much as I could. The close-up pics, viewed blown up, do the look a bit more justice, but the camera can't handle the full bike shots. Be sure to click the "full size" links in each for much clearer, larger images.

Hi Dirk,
I am certainly interested in Lasers, but this one doesn't come up in any of my saved searches, not even in the broad Cinelli-Worldwide-All categories search. I wonder if perhaps it is because this seller doesn't offer to ship it? That's the only explanation I can come up with.
I did a Google translation of the seller's text, and I didn't see anything about only 10 of this version having been built. In any event, I would not be surprised if that assumption by the seller was correct. I own Laser serial number 024 (with exact same strip over the bb shell), and by the time they made mine, it was different from the one on eBay. The frame is almost identical, with the main difference being the position of the rear brake, which on my bike is located behind the seatstays, in the normal way. Mine has all Super Record drive train, brakes and hubs, with Assos rims. The bar/stem/saddle combo is an identical VIP set as the one on the eBay bike, as well as the 005 bike in Japan.
I'd love to know more about the Lasers, such as how many were built, but my efforts to find out (which include writing to the Cinelli firm as well as Andrea Cinelli himself), have so far yielded nothing.
I am planning on doing a photo page for my Laser, and I would like to include as much information as possible about the Laser model(s), so if anyone has any information or photos to share, I would appreciate it very much.

PS - Does anybody else on this list have a Laser? Guy Apple?

Given the three digit serial number 007 I would think that at least 100 have been planned but the only other example I know of is Amaki-san's number 005 - also under 10. Does anybody know how many have been built?
