Hi David, I have had good luck with drilling a hole in the bottom bracket and inserting a metal rod to hammer the post out. I use a 5/16" rod so the hole just needs to be big enough for that. Lots of quality frames have drilled or stamped out BB shells so you don't have to weld it back up -and it makes the frame lighter :)
