I know that the steel road bars were available either with or without the engraving by the stem - a glance at old ads or perhaps the Cinelli catalog I believe will confirm that. The track bars I'm not so sure about, but based on the number I've seen without engraving I suspect they were available outside the Schwinn channel as well. I suspect, though, that Schwinn specifically ordered them without engraving and that was what was being refered to. But if they only were available to Schwinn that would be interesting.
