Going from memory, the ID of the bearing on that BB is 16mm- that's the issue. The OD and width is fairly common but that 16mm ID is the killer.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the advice Chuck, you have no doubt saved me a lot of time on a fruitless quest around my local bearing dealers...

The Emperor will now be allowed to retire from it's current incarnation as my messenger bike, where it has a harder life than I should really be giving it (Edinburgh's roads in winter are not a benign environment). Instead, I have an old Sun Stanga lying around waiting for a use since I rescued it from a rubbish bin. It's not really in good enough condition to warrant restoration (I'll need to do some work with a braising torch to make it roadworthy) and it will at least see some more miles before it's inevitable demise. Trust me, these roads here are in seriously bad condition.

The Emp, however will make a nice little restoration project, and will be back on the road by summer. If I can make some time around some other projects, that is...

All the best, and thanks,

Jim.
