Eric, Mavic Special Service Course Rims were the first widely known and developed super duty professional bicycle rims. They were long in development and testing by Mavic-They weren't light but we're darn near bombproof.

They set the standard before everyone got on board with the hard annodized, machined and field developed and tested tubular rims....at least that is what I thought was the deal-i-o!
