When I had this problem with a Lesser Breed, a buddy made a great suggestion: cut a piece of relatively coarse sandpaper to fit the contact space. Reassemble, with good tightening. The sandpaper provides several hundred (?) additional contact points that dig in just a bit on both surfaces. Worked for me.
Of course, my 2-bolt Avocet loosened up the other day, too. At least its bolts are accessible from beneath, unlike the 2-bolt Campy. There are lots of fancy posts, but are there any that actually are both classic and set-and-forget? Or, in my experience I can have any combination of 2 out of three of the following: easy to set up, reliable, and vintage. Heck, with the brooks clip for straight posts, you only get vintage. :-)
