Jeff,

Since you are going to restore and re-paint, why not just paint it a Masi color you like?

Jay Sexton Sebastopol, CA

Thanks to Jim Allen who put this bike out on the list, I am the new proud owner. I got it earlier this week. The components are well worn but the frame is very sound. The bike has had, to quote Bob Hovey, "a bad re-spray" sometime in its past. So, I have begun the restoration process.

The original color was "Tomato Soup Red". I want to be a good vintage bike geek and restore it to the original color, but I can't wrap my mind around the red/orange hue. It's just not as striking as the silver/blue or champaign used on many of the GC's of that era.

I need a little encouragement from the Masi Cognoscenti. I plan on watching Breaking Away again. Perhaps, with the aid of psychoactives, this will help galvanize my resolve.

Does anyone know of a good match for this color?
