I've heard similar stories on LA county "river" trails to the beach, in particular those trails that go through less than desirable neighborhoods. You do smell a lot of herb quite often though.

With all the talk about getting nailed in Central Park. Every city or county has there danger zones. Yes even sleepy Orange Co. CA. Rider beware of riding solo on the Santa Ana river trail north of I 5. I have seen more than one attempt of someone having thier steed taken away from them. And this is in the here and now not in the 70's.
