Hi all,
Was in a friend's bike shop today, and saw a nice Paramount track bike sitting in the back. It's way too big for me, but I asked anyway, as we all would.
He told me that it was built in 1973, in Chicago and that it was one of only ten Paramount tracks bikes built there instead of the Waterford facility. The only serial number I could find was on a dropout, and is F 7541. On the bottom of the bb shell are two identical stamps that resemble, for lack of a better description, tulips. These are about the size of the usual serial number characters (maybe 1 cm or a bit smaller).
The owner has had this bike since the early 80's and bought it from the original owner who gave him the provenance.
Could there be something to this apparently rare bike? Is it a rare bike? I don't want to break the heart of a fellow bike owner, but I'm curious nonetheless.
Thanks!
