My vote is to take it as an oppurtunity to explore the joys of tubulars.

If it has the original equipment, that would be all Campy NR except for Weinmann CP brakes. If both frame and components are in very good condition, $500 is a reasonable price, as it would be for almost any all Campy NR bike in very good condition.

The original pedals should be Campy Record steel road. If you change the pedals, you should be able to get a reasonable price on eBay or here on the list for the original ones. This is especially true if the pedals have the older toe strap loops which they may have done in 1971. These usually bring a better price than the later pedals without the loops.

Wheels should also bring a reasonable price, as they should have Campy NR hubs, although they probably have tubular rims, which normally reduce the price from what they would be with clincher rims. You might also consider having the original hubs rebuilt with clincher rims, assuming you prefer clinchers.

Is this a fair price? I'm new to the old bike acquisition biz and don't have a feel for prices yet. I'll be riding it a lot, and will probably change a few parts, such as pedals & wheels, but would retain brakes, shifters, cranks, deraillers, bar/stem & seat post.
