Subject: [CR] Why no Quick Releases on Track bikes? Hopefully not a stupid question...

I know the first reaction to this question is to say that nuts hold better...Well, how many folks lose wheels in the TDF? I understand the safety issue of banning wing nuts, but the only real safety issue I can see with QR Skewers is folks tangling their QR Skewers on the track...now granted I have an abhorrence of riding too close to another bike, but in my experience this is virtually unheard of...I'll bet I now get a barrage of such stories... but is this the reason for no quick release skewers on track bikes? Is it pure tradition because such skewers did not come into usage until after track racing was established? Perhaps because quick release is
not needed there?
