I came close to buying the current eBay ones at $79 buy-it-now but chickened out because I feared I would snap one and have hospital bills and time off work to add to that cost!

Plus the extra tread, from having the pedal inboard of your foot instead of under it, will make you pedal like a duck. And ducks are s-l-o-w on a bike.
